Carole Cowan Caro Cowan heads up the Post EU Referendum team for Marine Scotland, prior to that she has worked as lead fisheries negotiator in Marine Scotland, as head of science for the British Embassy in Brazil and as a climate adaptation specialist in Defra and Natural England. Caro did an MPhil in Environment and Development, and a PhD looking at political ecology and the history of nature conservation in Tsavo national park in Kenya during the British colonial period. In her spare time Caro enjoys being outdoors, walking slowly up hills, attempting to scramble up rocks and splashing around in the lakes (aka swimming). She also likes to bake cakes, which necessitates further time exercising to make room for more cake.
